For your information, there was a symposium last week as part of the
WRO 12th Media Art Biennale in Wroclaw, Poland, that included some
presentations around archives. A number of speakers introduced
various institutional approaches (from V2, Daniel Langlois
Foundation, Electronic Arts Intermix, Inter Media Institute,
Montevideo, etc.), their use of open source platforms and relational
databases. There were some useful perspectives and the sense that
further developments were embracing user-generated approaches and the
need to become more collaborative across the various initiatives. The
discussion itself was recorded and will be archived at a later date
either on the WRO website or in the forthcoming WRO READER
publication. The symposium organiser (Michal Szota) has also been
invited to send some thoughts to the list. / Geoff
