SEMINAR: HUMAN CARGO
The Transatlantic Slave Trade, its Abolition and Contemporary Legacies in
Plymouth and Devon
Saturday 17 November, 2pm to 5.30pm
Room 309, Roland Levinsky Building, University of Plymouth
An opportunity to find out more about the legacies of the Transatlantic
Slave Trade and how practising artists have approached them. Speakers will
reflect upon the collaboration between contemporary curatorial and museum
practices; consider the significance of working in a wider social context
and the Cultural Politics of re-presentation and discuss issues of
contemporary slavery and the Fair Trade movement.
Tickets cost £4 (£2 concessions) and are available from the Plymouth City
Museum & Art Gallery shop, North Hill, Plymouth.
Shop opening hours are 10am to 4.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 4pm
