Dear All,

Thank you for continuing to post announcements, information and to many of
you for sharing your comments on the List.

I would also like to thank Paul O'Neill for moderating the discussion in
October.

There has been a number of interesting issues raised so far - proliferation
of curatorial practice and expanded definitions of curating; the issue of
curatorial practice-based PhDs and their value; the relationship between
culture and economy, the so called 'creative industries' sector and public
funding - to highlight just a few.

Perhaps we can pick up on some of these issues while discussing other topics
and there is always CN List Archive if you wanted to go to any of the past
postings: http://www.curatorial.net/pipermail/curatorial/

In the meantime, we see the List and the Network growing fast (which is a
great news of course) and there is a large number of new subscribers who
joined the List in the last few months.

With this in mind, I was wondering whether it might be useful to know who
the people on the List are - so that we know each other's work and interests
better. We will be of course continuing to introduce respondents invited to
specific topics as we go - much the same as with Paul earlier.

But perhaps in the meantime, short informal messages from anyone on the List
who would like to introduce themselves would be a good way of making
Curatorial Network a 'real network'.

It would also be great to hear from those who went on the curatorial visit
to China just recently and in particular in the context of some the issues
raised at the Far West seminar.

This is while we are slowly moving towards the next topic for discussion on
'curating and technologies' that would take us right to the next curatorial
residency in the CN programme hosted in January 08 by Plymouth Arts Centre
and the Centre of Expertise i-DAT in Plymouth.

In the meantime please keep posting!

Joasia
