As promised here are highlights of forthcoming discussions and events
related to CN programme and this List:
In October I have invited Paul O'Neil, the GWR Research Fellow with
Situations at the University of the West of England, Bristol currently
leading a three year research project 'Locating the Producers' to introduce
his current work as part of 'Locating the Producers' project.
Also in October Zhang Wei, director of Vitamin Arts Space, Guangzhou, China,
is taking curatorial residency with Arnolfini and Relational (Bristol, UK)
as part of Curatorial Network residency programme. I have invited Zhang Wei
along with Zoe Shearman (Relational) and Tom Trevor (Arnolfini) to discuss
her residency and the forthcoming public seminar THE FAR WEST (26 October
2007, Arnolfini, Bristol, UK).
In November, Paula Orrell, curator at Plymouth Arts Centre (Plymouth, UK)
will be discussing curating 'No Programme' events in conversation with
Joanna Graham and Valeria Graziano (together working as the Committee for
Radical Diplomacy).
And December will see the opening of the longer season of discussions on the
theme of curating and technology. I have invited number of contributors to
introduce curatorial work that makes explicit connection between curating,
computational systems and Internet and explores the politics of curating
online.
Contributors include Vienna-based curatorial collective CONT3XT discussing
TAGallery, Moscow-based Olga Goriunova presenting runme.org, Luis Silva
(Portugal) presenting LX 2.0, Robert Lisek of Fundamental Research Lab (New
York) to introduce his curatorial engine/platform FACE, hackable curator
project, kurator software and others).
This is in the run up to the third curatorial research residency in the CN
programme forthcoming in January. The invited curator-in-residence is Basak
Senova of NomadTV (Turkey) and the residency is hosted by PAC and i-DAT
Centre of Expertise at the University of Plymouth. I have invited Basak
Senova, Birgitte Aga (i-DAT) and Paula Orrell (PAC) to discuss the residency
and the idea of an online platform 'reciprocity engine'.
We welcome your suggestions for further topics of interest to this List!
Best wishes
joasia
