Hi there Megan

You might be interested to visit the Situations website where you can download Situations papers recorded since 2003 with particular regard to participatory practice (http://www.situations.org.uk/research_research_resource_situations_papers.htm) - in particular you might find the transcript on the San Diego/Tijuana project inSITE_05 interesting (there new publication Situational Publics has a great essay by Joshua Decter on the notion of public). The DVD archive of the lectures which includes Kathrin Bohm and Thomas Hirschhorn both talking about notions of participation, context and social engagement is available in the Arnolfini Resource Room. You might also be interested to download published articles under our resource in particular which relate to Superflex and to notions of engagement.

The book - Contemporary Art: From Studio to Situation produced from the first two years of the Situations programme covers a number of issues around responses to context, collaboration and participation - see in particular Maria Lind's essay on Oda Projesi, which has been quoted by Claire Bishop in her Artforum article that I'm sure you know well.

Bjornstjerne Christiansen (Superflex) took part in our Locating the Producers workshop in July in Penzance, the first in a series of events which looks at place-based commissioning methods across a diversity of visual arts sectors. Please contact our new Research Fellow, Paul O'Neill, regarding that project.

Finally, you might be interested to hear about Ivan and Heather Morisons' new project which is in development at present in response to environmental issues within the Bristol context - part of the RSA Arts and Ecology programme - they are particularly interested in notions of collective action. They are here until the end of September and I'm sure would be delighted to meet you to talk about their understanding of participation.

all good wishes for your research

Claire
