Curators and critics unpack parallel perceptions in terms of East and West, exploring how such projections of difference are absorbed in a local context. Speakers include Claire Bishop, assistant professor in the department of history of art at Warwick University and editor of Participation (London: Whitechapel and MIT Press, 2006), Zoe Butt, curator and director of international programmes, Long March, Beijing; Sarat Maharaj, co-curator of Documenta 11 and of the 2008 Guangzhou Triennial 'Farewell to Post-Colonialism'; and Zhang Wei, director of Vitamin Arts Space, Guangzhou, China.
