CURATORIAL NETWORK VISIT

ARS ELECTRONICA, LINZ, AUSTRIA
4 9 September 2008

The annual festival Ars Electronica takes place in Linz, Austria each year
-arguably the foremost media and electronic art festival attracting
participants and visitors from across the world. Details on the festival
will be announced in April but regular features such as Campus and the
Animation Festival will run alongside special projects. Most importantly
the Prix Ars Electronica will be awarded in the context of the festival;
this is the most coveted prize for computer based art. For more information
please look at http://www.aec.at/en/index.asp.

Arts Council England South West is funding a visit to Ars Electronica
through Curatorial Network. Around 11 curators from the South West of
England will be subsidised to attend the events on a visit organised by
ArtProjects and Solutions. The visit follows Basak Senova¹s residency this
January at iDAT and Plymouth Arts Centre. Successful delegates will be
expected to attend the seminar related to the residency on 25 April between
12:30 and 17:30 at Plymouth Arts Centre (details can be found on
www.curatorial.net <http://www.curatorial.net> ).

Linz on the river Danube is a pleasant town rich in Baroque architecture.
This capital city of Upper Austria lies not far from the Czech border, on
the main road and train routes between Vienna and Salzburg. The group will
fly from London to Linz on 3 September returning 9 September. Delegates will
be required to contribute approximately £100 each to the cost of the visit.

Curatorial Network is now inviting applications from curators in the South
West who would like to go on this visit.
