Liberating Your film: Editing with Free Software

When: 29 ­ 30 November 08 - 10am to 3pm

"Liberating Your Film: Editing with Free Software" is a two day workshop
which will introduce participants to pure:dyne, an essential tool
created to provide a complete, custom and ready-made computer
environment for media artists. These workshops will be run to coincide
with the Brighton Film Festival, Cinecity, and are aimed at filmmakers
and media artists wanting to make an active move away from Final
Cut/Avid towards free software.

Participants will be guided through the creative possibilities of
pure:dyne as an operating system which supports a complete video
production chain using only free software. The pure:dyne CD (or USB key)
can be inserted and run on a computer without the need to install
anything, with an aim to make it simple to use on many types of
hardware. It contains FLOSS programs for recording and manipulating
sound, making live visuals and creating interactive media in
installation, and more.
