Dear all

Please click HTML in your view menu, or see the attached pdf for information
about Alinah Azadeh's proposal for the shape of things exhibition here in
Bristol in winter-spring 2010 for which we are seeking your gifts...

Alinah is gathering a collection of 999 small, donated objects which have
personal meaning for the Giver and somehow represent some experience, memory
or association he/she is prepared to lay to rest. These objects - pieces of
personal legacy - are being wrapped and bound by Alinah using fabric and
yarn, together with a silent blessing. Alinah is also facilitating communal
wrapping /dialogue sessions with groups in Bristol connected to the museum.

So far we have received a range of donations, from the handle from the
mirror of a beloved great aunt's vanity set, to a door handle, once part of
the giver's graduation sculpture work, to the wedding slippers worn by the
artist, to a peace badge worn on many a demonstration by one of my museum
colleagues. We hope that these generous gifts and involving stories will
inspire you to consider donations you may wish to contribute to Alinah's
project.

If you would like to participate, you can bring your gift to the museum at
Queens Road, or you can send it to The Gifts, PO Box 199, Lewes BN7 9GQ.
The closing date is the 30th November. For more information visit

( http://www.theshapeofthings.org.uk/ )and www.bristol.gov.uk/museums.

Thanks and best wishes,

Julia
